Hey. Did I tell you that while I was away I got a necklace with a lock and key design? Yeah, there were tons of things with lock and key designs - both necklaces and earrings - but none like the ones that they've got at Yesasia which I am still planning to get - but I really like the one I bought. Look, I took a picture of it!

This performance made me cry.

And then this one blew me away.

*sigh* It's strange but I find myself listening to a lot more ballads these days. My taste in music is changing, I realize - slowly but surely. Hmm, maybe I'm just getting old...

Anyway, for those who are interested, it's been confirmed that Super Junior's third album will drop on March 12th. Less than two weeks from now. Ooh, anticipation~

Okay, so who doesn't like presents? Nobody except the Grinch, right? Well since I know how much you all love me, I'ma post up this meme here, okay? Don't take it too seriously now~ Just have fun with it. ^^
 

I was going to post again last night but I didn't get around to it so here goes:

GOOD THINGS from yesterday:

1. I watched Key's monologue and it was just what I needed after a super crappy day.
2. One of the photocopiers at work (all of which are malfunctioning) worked for the whole time that I had to copy a ton of stuff and then promptly shut down once I was done. Lucky break~
3. The cd player part of my stereo (which has been giving trouble for months) magically started working fine last week when I tried to play my SHINee World cd.
4.I finally stopped procrastinating and wrote the review of IU's first mini-album that I planned to do forever - read it here.
5. Today I stayed home from work because I was sick and finally got a chance to relax.

For all these things, I am very grateful. Thank you.

So I was writing a post for my Wordpress blog about my K-pop wishes and then somehow it turned into a post about Onew so I decided to post it here as well because I kind of want to see if you guys agree or diagree with me or whatever. I dunno - just be glad I'm updating, okay? You know how rare that is. Now without further ado...

By the by, I feel much better now just in case you were wondering - still feeling some pressure but I'm dealing with it a lot better, things are finally starting to fall into place. I'm sorry if I worried you and I'm really grateful for all of your lovely, supportive comments. Thank you. ^^

ACTUAL POST TIME!

If I could spend the day with any one member of SHINee, I would choose….Lee Jinki/Onew/Dubu Leader-ssi!

You know if you asked me this question a few months back when I had just started watching Yunhanam and getting into SHINee in a big way, I would have said the exact same thing. Honestly, my answer and my reasons have not changed. As much as I love all of the boys in the group, I would really like to spend some one on one time with Onew because I still feel like there’s a lot to him that we don’t really see. I once saw someone say that they thought that Onew was hiding something behind his ‘condition’ (deliberately or not, I can’t say) and I kind of agree - I don’t think he makes his ’sangtae’ on purpose or anything but I just feel like he’s really a very deep person and we sometimes get so caught up in his perpetually smiling, easygoing, faily self that we don’t always notice that. I feel like I could write a post just on why I like Onew. I had actually intended to write one on why I think he makes a good leader but I never got around to it.

You know I really don’t talk about Onew enough - please don’t think that I don’t like him or that I don’t appreciate him - I really do. He went from being my number five out of the five to my number two (just like Daesung!) and I think he’s such an incredible person, it makes me a little sad to think that maybe he doesn’t think so - I don’t know why but I really feel that he doesn’t realize how much he has to offer. I mean, I love the fact that he’s obviously really, genuinely humble - I think that’s an extremely important characteristic for a leader to have, like you know he wouldn’t have a problem stepping back and allowing his members to have the spotlight - but at the same time, there’s a fine line between being humble and not appreciating yourself and sometimes I worry that he’s on the wrong side of that line. I remember he once said that he used to think of himself as the least talented of the five and I was flabbergasted, I was just like “How could you think that?!” I’m a little afraid that if I met him, my noona-ness would take over and I would end up lecturing him about properly appreciating himself and basically giving him a run-down of his many talents. Ah, but I’m getting off topic now…

My point is I’d really love to sit down with him and just feel him out, get a little chance to see what he’s like away from the members. Like I’ve said, I’ve always felt like this but watching his monologue really brought it back for me - he’s so well spoken and intelligent and earnest and even though he often acts silly, he can be quite serious when he wants to. I also think a lot of people (myself included) take his eloquence for granted, you know, because he’s the leader so he’s expected to be well-spoken and while that’s true, that shouldn’t stop us from appreciating that he really gives a lot of thought to everything he says and words things ever so nicely. He really takes his position on the team very seriously and always tries his best to show a good side in all of their activities. In addition to that, he’s very laid back and easy-going and I think that it would be easy for me to relax around him (instead of flailing about incoherently as I would undoubtedly do if I were to meet Jonghyun) so yes, I would definitely like to meet Onew. I’d also like to marry him but I don’t want to be unreasonable so…

Oh, this is a good time for me to say that I suspect that Onew has a romantic side - like a big one. I cannot tell you how sad I am that we never got to see him go on a proper one-on-one date during Yunhanam like the others - I was dying to see how he would treat a noona and we never got to~ I’m still holding out hope that it will happen somehow - who knows? Maybe he’ll get invited to guest star on We Got Married or something. I mean, YeEun from the Wonder Girls did it and she’s only a bit older than him so there’s still hope - kind of. I never really thought about it until I watched School of Rock and one of the students asked him to ‘allure’ her (lololol), I thought he would say no, actually but instead he just asked if it was okay - and then he proceeded to serenade her and get down on one knee (actually that was lucky cause she got to be 'allured' by the whole group but I digress…) and just be super romantico (and kind of hot too - whaaaaaat?) and I was shocked because I did not know Onew had that in him, okay? And then there was the time they asked them to send a message to their future girlfriends (darn lucky chicas!) and Onew said “I don’t know where you are or what you’re doing, but when you hear my voice, will you come to me?” Now tell me that is not the sweetest thing you’ve heard in your life. You know you wish he was saying that to you - you do, I know you do. I do too - Onew, I’ve already heard your voice and trust me, I have no qualms about getting on a plane and flying to Korea if you’ll have me! Too bad I don’t match up with his ideal woman. And I noticed that his voice does this thing - I don't know how to describe it exactly - it's sort of a lilt whenever he's in those sort of situations. It happened during both of the things I mentioned (is it weird that I noticed that?) and well, I just found it really cute and endearing. I really love that boy though - you think anyone would mind if I married him? You all wouldn't, right? XD You know I always feel kind of odd when I find Onew hot because in addition to that being so rare, he's just so sweet and innocent that I don't feel right having anything but pure thoughts about him. Uhm, that's a good thing, right?

1. They’re talented.

This one’s a given. I mean, there are lots of other great things about them and lots of other reasons why I ended up liking them but the first I noticed was their talent - singing, dancing, rapping, the whole shebang. And I’ll be the first to admit that they’re not all the strongest singers and sure, there are better dancers out there but for rookies, they’re pretty darn good and as I’ve said before, they really entertain you. They work hard and it shows in their performances - you can actually see them improving with each one. When you watch them perform, you can tell that they’re doing their best, that they’re natural entertainers and that they’re doing what they love. And while it may be obvious that Jonghyun’s the strongest singer and Taemin’s the main dancer, rest assured that they’re all extremely talented (or in Key’s case, super talented) and if you give them a chance, you’ll see it.

2. They’re cute.

Yes, I’m talking about in the physical sense. I mean, they’re pretty much cute in every sense of the word  but this one focuses on the physical.  I must say I didn’t notice that when I was watching the Replay video - I mean I thought “yeah, they’re cute but so what?” I wasn’t interested in them like that so it didn’t matter. I realize now that they’re definitely a little bit more than cute. ^^ Anyways, I don’t think I really have to elaborate too much on this point so I’ll just post up a picture to prove my point and move on.

3. They’re dorks.

I have to admit - when I started watching SHINee’s reality show, I was not expecting it to be funny. I mean, I only really intended to see what it was like and then maybe watch another episode or two. So you can imagine my surprise when I started to watch Yunhanam and found it to be full of lots of silly, crack-ish behaviour. (Noraebang, anyone?) I just couldn’t believe that the boys of SHINee were actually that funny - but they are. They really are. Be it Onew’s ‘condition’, Jonghyun and Key’s constant camera-hogging, Taemin’s childishness or MinHo’s randomness, (catching raindrops in a water glass? Random~) those boys are seriously amusing and if you don’t believe me, watch Yunhanam. You’ll see it.

4. They’re genuine.

One of the things I noticed right away when I started watching videos of SHINee - interviews and the like - was how eager they seemed - eager and young and fresh-faced and smiley and it was just so refreshing! It was so obvious that everything was new to them and that they were so excited and just happy to get to do what they’re doing. I don’t know, I guess it’s because things take on a greater significance when they’re happening for the first time but it makes watching what happens to them so much more interesting - kind of (and literally) like watching someone grow up. It’s fascinating and a little sad too - I mean, I can’t help dreading when (yes ‘when’, not ‘if’) they become super popular and won’t have time to update (or have!) an iple and won’t do as many interviews and just won’t be as accessible as they are now. Also as much as I want every single person in the world to like them (love them. love them now!), I kind of want to keep them to myself for awhile. I mean, I feel that like my support is really important now that they’re now starting out and need as much support as possible and I feel proud that I was able to recognize their potential from so early and that I’m able to watch them make their way up the ladder of success but in the future, if they ever get to like DBSK’s status, (if only!) I’d just be a number, you know, one out of a HUGE crowd. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I think that their innocence and humility is refreshing and that I hope that they can stay that way for as long as possible.

And the final reason is…

5. why SHINee themselves, of course. The five stars from the universe.

Dubu leader, Magdoongie Taemin, Bling Bling Jonghyun, Flaming Charisma Minho and the Almighty Key. The group just wouldn’t be the same without all five of them. Each boy’s got his own talents and charms and everyone contributes something different and crucial to the group and I have to agree with Jaehun noona (the dancer who first picked Taemin) when she said that there’s a good balance in the group. I wholeheartedly agree. So that brings us to the end of my list. Like I said, there are other reasons - feel free to add you own. I’m open to suggestions.
